In order to study the effects of aqua-acupuncture with Koong-Gui-Tang on the anemia induced by loss of blood in rats, animal experiments were carried out. After the rats were induced anemia by cardiac puncture, Koong-Gui-Tang and 0.9% Saline Solution were injected into the corresponding loci Gyeog-Su(B_(17)), and Koong-Gui-Tang were injected into corresponding loci to Gyeog-Su(B_(17)), Sam-Eum-Gyo(Sp_6) and a Blank locus(BL) of the root of tail. Effects of aqua-acupuncture on anemia were measured by the numbers of RBC, the concentrations of hemoglobin, and the values of hematocrit. The result were summarized as follows;
1. In the measurement of the numbers of RBC, the concentrations of hemoglobin, and the Values of hematocrit, aqua-acupuncture with Koong-Gui-Tang were shown a remarkable increase, but aqua-acupuncture with 0.9% Saline Solution were not shown a remarkable increase.
2. In the measurement of the numbers of RBC of various acupuncture loci, Sam-Eum-Gyo (Sp_6) Showed a remarkable increase as compared with control data, and Gyeog-Su(B_(17))-lso showed a significant increase, and, the numbers of RBC were increased in the sequence of Sam-Eum-Gyo(Sp_6), Gyeog-Su(B_(17)) and a Blank locus(BL).
3. In the measurement of the concentrations of hemoglobin of various acupuncture loci, Sam-Eum-Gyo(Sp_6) and Gyeog-Su(B_(17)) showed a significant increase as compared with control data, and, the concentrations of hemoglobin were increased in the sequence of Sam-Eum-Gyo(Sp_6), Gyeog-Su(B_(17)) and a Blank locus(BL).
4. In the measurement of the values of hematocrit of various acupuncture loci, Sam-Eum-Gyo(Sp_6) showed a remarkable increase as compared with control data, and Gyeog-Su(B_(17)) also showed a significant increase, and, the values of hematocrit were increased in the sequence of Sam-Eum-Gyo(Sp_6), Gyeog-Su(B_(17)) and a Blank locus(BL).
In conclusion, the results of this study seemed to indicate that aqua-acupuncture with Koong-Gui-Tang respectively at the corresponding loci to Sam-Eum-Gyo(Sp_6) and Gyeog-Su(B_(17)) were effective on treatment for acute anemia induced by loss of blood, and as the efficacies of aqua-acupuncture therapy, however, depend not only on the effects of drugs but also on the effects of acupuncture loci, selection of acupuncture loci and of drugs must be considered in clinical practice.
